Houston's battery distributor since 1946

Republic Battery is a fourth-generation, family-owned battery distributor and retail store in Houston, Texas. Founded in 1946 as the Republic Battery Manufacturing Company, we built lead-acid batteries here for three decades before shifting to what we do today: sourcing, warehousing and delivering the right battery for the job.

We stock car, truck and fleet batteries, Group 31, 4D and 8D commercial batteries, 6V, 8V and 12V golf cart and floor-scrubber batteries, marine cranking and dual purpose batteries, sealed AGM (SLA) for UPS and equipment, and lithium kits. Walk in to our store on Long Drive, or set up a commercial account for fleet pricing, Net 30 terms, consignment stock on your shelf and route delivery across greater Houston, from Galveston to Conroe and Katy to Beaumont. We also test batteries, build custom cables, and buy back your old cores.

Common questions

Do you buy old batteries or take cores?

Yes. Bring any lead-acid battery to 6130 Long Drive and we will pay for it as scrap, or credit it as a core against a new battery. Commercial accounts can have cores picked up on the route.

Do you deliver?

Yes. Two route vans cover greater Houston, from Galveston to Conroe and Katy to Beaumont. Commercial and fleet accounts get scheduled route delivery; walk-in customers can pick up in store or order online for pickup.

Do you sell used or reconditioned batteries?

Yes. We sell tested used and reconditioned car and truck batteries with a 90 day guarantee. Call ahead to check availability for your group size.

Do you install batteries?

No. We are a battery supplier, and our goal is to get you the right battery at the best possible price, so installation is not part of what we do. We will test your old battery, match the replacement, and load the new one in your vehicle. Your mechanic, dealer or marina can install it, and we credit the core when you bring the old battery back.

How do I open a commercial account?

Fill out the one-page Quick Sign-Up for standard commercial pricing, or the full application for Net 30 terms. We verify the business by EIN and legal name and reply with your account number, usually the same day.

Which battery fits my golf cart or floor scrubber?

Most 36V carts use six 6V GC2 batteries (T-105, RGC-100, REV6-225). 48V carts use six 8V GC8 or four 12V GC12. Scrubbers and lifts use the same GC2, GC8 and GC12 sizes plus L16 and J305. Check the spec table on each product page or call us with the model.

What is the difference between CCA and reserve capacity?

CCA (cold cranking amps) is starting power at 0°F; reserve capacity is how many minutes the battery can run a 25 amp load. Starting batteries are rated by CCA; deep cycle batteries by amp-hours and reserve capacity.
