When purchasing a battery from Republic Battery, you may notice an additional charge called a Core Deposit. A Core Deposit is a refundable fee charged by battery retailers when you purchase a new battery. The fee is based on the weight of the battery that is being sold. 

Core Deposits are broken up into types. Deposit amount for the various types of core charges are as follows :

• Lawn and Garden : $10.00
• Automotive : $20.00
• Light Commercial : $30.00
• Heavy Duty Commercial : $50.00 

The Core Deposit is a deposit that you will get back as long as you return your old battery, equivalent to the battery you purchased. The deposit ensures that people return their old car and truck batteries to be properly disposed of. Recycling lead-acid batteries is essential for the environment and your health, as the heavy metals in the battery can break down in landfills and spread dangerous toxins. However, if properly recycled, these batteries are almost 100% reused and provide materials to make new batteries.

Once you bring back the old battery to the store, the amount of money charged for the deposit will be refunded to you. Please keep in mind that you may not receive your deposit back if you return a smaller battery than the one you purchased.

In addition, it is essential to keep your receipt as getting your deposit refunded will be much easier and take less time if you have your original receipt for the associate to look up your original order.
